Difference Between Front Kick & Leg Stomp

People are also often asking me this question. So let me explain it simplest as possible.

Both Front Kick & Leg Stomp can be categorized as “Straight Kick”, the difference is on their attack range.

Some dojos like Northern Chinese Kungfu and Taekwondo are prefer to teach beginner students a long range Front Kick, aimed to body (kick on solar plexus).

Other dojos like Southern Chinese Kuntao and Panantukan are prefer to teach beginners students a close range Leg Stomp, aimed to leg (kick on the knee joint).

By the way, both kicks can be used to kick the opponent’s groin (kick on bladder).

Simple right?

Difference Between Jab & Cross

People are often asking me this question too. So let me explain it simplest as possible.

Both Jab Punch & Cross Punch can be categorized as “Straight Punch”, the difference is on their attack range.

Jab Punch is effective to punching the opponent on long range, where Cross Punch is too slow to reach because the distance is too far.

Cross Punch is effective to punching the opponent on the close range, where Jab Punch is powerless because it have no enough space to launching powerful straight punch.

Some punches are only effective to be performed using lead arm and other punches are only effective to be performed using rear arm. Some kicks are only effective to be performed using lead leg and other kicks are only effective to be performed using rear leg.
