The Difference Between Jab Punch & Cross Punch

Simple, both punches are same linear straight punch type but they have different range.

Jab/Lead Hand Straight Punch used for long range punch, it has longer reach like this.

Cross/Rear Hand Punch used for short range punch, it has shorter reach but very useful when you can’t launch a Jab Punch.

By the way, some martial art techniques are only effective to be executed with just 1 body part. For examples:

- Swing Chop only powerful to be launched with our rear hand, it less powerful if launched with lead hand.

- Back Chop only powerful to be launched with our lead hand, it can’t be launched well with rear hand.

- Uppercut only powerful to be launched with our rear hand, it less powerful if launched with lead hand.

- Backfist only powerful to be launched with our lead hand, it can’t be launched well with rear hand.

There is no 100% perfect martial art technique, there is no 100% fighting style, even legendary martial art masters and world champs are can’t mastering them all. All we have to do is keep training to sharpening our fighting skill and keep learning to expand our knowledge, choose which fighting styles that fit with ourselves then learn and master it well.

“Be Water, My Friend” quote by Bruce Lee is really work. If 1 technique failed then try other technique, if 1 technique didn’t work then try other technique, we must be dynamic like water and keep learning - sharpening our skill.

Why Object Breaking Is Useless In Real Fight

Object Breaking/Board Breaking/Brick Breaking/Tameshiwari (whatever they call it, it just same circus-attraction thing) is a show off demonstration where the “Martial Master” destroying the hard object using their “Kung Flu”.

Will it work for real fight? No!!

First, they use cheap and weak materials for their show off circus. If you challenge them to destroying a wall/building/tree with their “Kung Flu”, of course they can’t.

Second, they place the targets on special position so they can break in easier. Like giving a space on every stack of objects and place the object below their hip line so they can swing their strike longer and more powerful.

Third, even if they feel any pain (or their mental reject the pain sensation/lying to themself delusionally after listening their sensei’s delusional teaching), their blood vessel and other internal organs inside their hand won’t lie:

Fourth, this training is waste more money to buy those materials.

Rather than wasting your times-stamina-money to learn useless technique, why you didn’t use your precious time to learn real useful techniques instead? Like Blocking, Trapping or Intercepting?

No wonder why most martial art schools won’t teach this, wasting time and money. Like Bruce Lee and Bolo Yeung said:

Firefighter’s Door Breaking training is totally different. They use different techniques, special equipment and they didn’t hurt their own body.

Why Martial Art Totally Different With Military Or Child Soldier Training

*Warning!! Photos in this article are horrifying for sensitive readers!!*

Some “Military Manias” or “Army Idi-ots” are often says: “Military training is very good to build our childrens!!”.

As martial art teacher who also teaches kindergarten kids myself: “I don’t like you!!”.

Why martial art training is not same with military training (and why i don’t like military guys)? The reasons are on their training goal and method.

Martial art training is a lifelong peaceful lifestyle and disciplines for all people, from kids to senior ages. It train our spiritual growth, physical health, respect, and self defense skill to protect ourselves and good people who need our help.

In martial art clubs, we just do normal cardio exercises and self defense basic skill training. No brainwashing to support political ideology propaganda like psychological hazing & hysical bullying here.

See? Both adults and kids are training martial art together with fun and safe without any anger, hatred or fear.

Some traditional martial arts like Nanpai Kungfu (ancient Southern Chinese Kungfu style) were created by military persons, but ancient militaries are totally different with modern military. Ancient military men who also martial art masters like General Qi Jiguang and Yu Dayou are working and training together with local villagers and monks on the field and fight together to protect their village from Wokou pirate attack. Both Qi Jiguang and Yu Dayou were didn’t want to create mindless soldiers like robot, they want to teach the local people a martial art to defend their village.

Modern military or Child Soldiers training is a short term unpeace training. The goal is to create loyal soldiers who expert in blade or firearm weapons combat and to make profit for the leader ambitions. Once the leader/commanders think you are weak/old/crippled/useless and no longer able to fight anymore, you will be expelled like a trash.

Modern military training is created to build loyal soldiers who always support the ambitious leader/dictator in modern corrupt era, of course those power hungry leaders will happy if they have strong “Hitmen” who always protect their throne and business.

To create loyal soldiers who will never say “No” to their ambitious/corrupt leader, 2 brainwashing methods like Bloodthirty Propaganda (teaching a doctrine filled with hatred/anger) or Power Show Off (scare their juniors using hazing/bullying) are often used to forcing the young soldiers to be loyal and obeying their seniors/commanders/leader. Lot of juniors death cases are also often happens in military training camps.

Those “Hitmen” also very useful to silence/eliminate people who oppose them (no wonder why Army jerks are often abuse weak people, even in their own country. Violence training and power given by the dictator often making their minds become delusional).

Watch their eyes!! Lot of hatred, anger and fear.

But seriously, here in my country (Indonesia), public are often got the wrong idea and parents become affraid because most corrupt martial art organizations like Silat-Karate-Jujutsu here are often using military-style hazing culture in their teaching, for examples:

- Slapping their students during training.

- Kicking their students during training.

- Male students being forced to get buzz cuts and female students being required to have short tomboy hairstyles like at military schools.

- The students are often forced to participate at political march campaign or street convoy wearing political party t-shirts to support the organization leader's friends/allies/sponsors campaign event as requirement for belt promotion exams (Seriously!! Based on my personal experience!!).

Martial art and military training aren't the same thing Bro!!! Mixing 2 contradictive things is like mixing fire and water: You will get nothing, both elements will get extinguished and vanish into steam.

As long as modern people get smarter (thanks to the internet that improve their knowledge about modern science and reality of the outside world" "Oh!! So this is how things are done in real developed countries!"), your market target will vanish completely because nobody want to joining your Military Wanna Be dojos anymore.

Want a proof? Just look at big cities like Jakarta and nearby, the students of militaristic dojos like corrupt Silat-Karate-Jujutsu are drastically reduced nowadays.

Smarter people won’t join them anymore, modern - smarter people are prefer to choose Wushu-Kickboxing-Boxing-Capoeira and other safer martial arts clubs that are peaceful, no drama and no militarism.

Southpaw Stance

Variation of basic techniques where the right hand and right foot placed on the front, also known as Mirrored Stance or Inverted Stance.

Sometimes the opponent will attacking us with quick strike from right side and we have no time to set up a normal fighting stance, using Southpaw position is faster technique to counter it.

The training method is same with basic strikes training using normal stance. The only difference is now we do all the basic strikes on mirrored position, like doing Jab Punch using right hand, Hook Punch using right hand, Front Kick using left foot, Scoop Block using right forearm and more.
