Kenpo (拳法) is the Northern Japanese (Nippon Kingdom) martial art developed from Northern Chinese Kungfu (武術) and Southern Chinese Kuntao (拳道).
Some Kenpo schools in Japan believe with theory which says Kenpo was brought by Buddhist monks from China in the mid of 6th century. At different side, several other schools more believe with other theory that says Kenpo was brought from China to Japan around 700 years ago by the Yoshida Clan and also adopted by the Komatsu Clan as their fighting style. Detail history of Kenpo are unclear due to a lack of documentation or the large number of historical documents - notes that were damaged due to wars during ancient Japanese kingdom era.
